been examined and identified by a Geologist and a Mineralologist. Their findings may be viewed by clicking here. Most specimens will consist of Hyalite (a type of Opal which fluoresces a brilliant Green) on matrix of Granite Pegmatite, Feldspar or Quartz which fluoresces a Ruby Red. The matrix may also contain Muscovite Mica, Beryl and Garnet. Occasionally these specimens will also contain brilliant Yellow/Orange areas of Fluorapatite. Every reasonable effort has been made to describe and photograph each specimen as accurately as possible. Unless otherwise noted the following pictures were taken with a Kodak DC215 digital camera and a 12 watt Short Wave Ultra Violet light.

This specimen looks like a slice of water melon! Bright Green outside with a Ruby Red center and even dark seeds. The dark spots are actually small patches of Garnet. This is a very nice thumbnail specimen. The Green is a coating of Hyalite. The Red is most likely Calcite. Measuring 1 X 1 inch and weighing 0.8 ounce. #FL0902102 $40.00 |
