HUGE DISPLAY SPECIMEN OF

 AUTUNITE CRYSTALS

The perfect gift for the mineral collector!

 FLUORESCENT

Highly valued by collectors, Autunite (Hydrated Calcium Uranyl Phosphate) is one of the most brilliant of the fluorescent minerals when it is exposed to Ultra Violet light. This magnificent museum quality specimen is a fine example of  Autunite Crystals on Granite Pegmatite with Mica. It is extremely brilliant under Uv light. Much brighter than in these pictures.

This specimen measures 8½ x 6 x 2  inch and weighs 4 pounds 6.5 ounces!

This is one of the largest specimen of Autunite on matrix you will ever have a chance to purchase.

Don't let this one get away!

It was hand dug from our mine in the great state of Washington in August of 2003.

This specimen has thousands of very well defined crystals and would be a welcome addition to any collection.

 RADIOACTIVE

Autunite is a secondary uranium mineral and is Radioactive.
This specimen registers 30,000 counts per minute (50 mR/hr) on a CDV700 Geiger counter with the shield open (Beta+Gamma). With the shield closed this specimen registers 4.0 Mr/Hr (Gamma only).

It is an excellent Geiger tester if your counter reads in mR/hr!

Autunite normally will shed some crystals over time due to dehydration.

*We have coated this specimen with invisible Acrylic to preserve the crystal structure*

We have coated many specimens using this process with excellent results.

This coating is invisible and does not effect the Uv of the specimen.

It will show when performing XRD or similar analysis.

Is Autunite safe?

Your safety is always my greatest concern.

I asked the "Health Physics Society" if there were

 any hazards associated with Autunite.

Here are the questions and answers:

Question # 573 and Question # 1449

As you can see, Autunite is safe. We do recommend a few basic Safety Guidelines  which are similar to the guidelines for household cleaners and paint.

The Law about Autunite

Autunite is Natural Uranium Ore.

Federal law 10 CFR 40.13 (b)  exempts Uranium ore from regulation. You can collect, sell transfer and own  natural Uranium ore.

Ebay's Hazardous Materials Policy

This mineral specimen is natural ore and is exempt from NRC licensing. According to Ebay's Hazardous Materials Policy, Nuclear Items Section, this item is permitted on Ebay..
